Which one are you?

While the majority were manga readers, there were ??? people who checked out the manga after seeing the anime, and ??? anime-onlys!

(Now that I think about it, I don't know how an anime-only would find one of my accounts 🤔)

When did you get into Yohaji?

Over 60% of answerers got into Yohaji in 2024!

3 people got into Yohaji way back in 2017, back when (or even before) Yen Press published the first volume in English!

(It was published December 2017, so I figured there wouldn't be enough people to warrant a dedicated checkbox for that year.)

What got you interested?

As expected, the characters, supernatural theme and anime existing are what got a lot of people interested.

Once again, Haruaki sweeps, getting 37% of the votes!

Dr. Takahashi moves up to 2nd place from only getting 1 out of 22 votes last time! Being a manwhore truly does wonders 😌

Rintarou, while losing to Takahashi as a "no. 1" pick, beats him and nearly ties with Haruaki as a "other 3 faves" pick!

And rounding out 4th and 5th place are the Principal and Sano, tied for votes.

Mame and Hatanaka, while not many people's first choice, are in a lot of people's "top 4" picks! Quite in-character for them.

Kai and Seiryuu are tied for first among the characters who weren't anyone's "no. 1", but were in their "other 3 faves".

Nyuudou, who got 2nd place with 3 votes in the 2022 poll, got the same amount of votes this time, but unfortunately that only puts him at tied for 11th.

Initial favorites

Sano and Rintarou really stand out as characters that drew people in initially, but then people left for more yaoiful characters 😔

Sano and Rintarou we gotta get your stocks up!! C'mon Sano drop that backstory!! Rintarou you... uh... go get Haruaki killed again! People love that! (I'm people 😋) (actually this can apply to both of you!)

Also, interestingly, Mame is unexpectedly high on this list!

Favorite dynamics

It's surprising that teacher trio is the top and not gakutai! And also that gakutai and mikiharu are as close as they are.

I didn't include the ones that were "all of class 2-3" because... come on man... that's 25 people...

WHAT IF Seimei and Haruaki are the same person?

Now, I know what you’re thinking “Anon, what the hell? They’re literally the same soul, aka reincarnation.” BUT WAIT—what if Seimei isn’t Haruaki’s past life, but actually his future self?

“Anon, what the fu-”

LET ME FINISH. Okay, maybe I’ve consumed too much Pixiv and AO3 fanfiction lately, but hear me out. Remember when Ranmaru found Seimei sleeping with that cat youkai? What if that moment triggered something in Seimei, a memory of Tamao (Tamao is in his top 10 most precious people, trust me guys). And what if Seimei’s connection to Haruaki isn’t just about reincarnation, but about some future catastrophe?

Imagine this, Haruaki somehow messes up big-time or gets caught up in some divine chaos and ends up stranded in the Heian era ALONE. He’s forced to survive and adapt to this ancient world, completely isolated. Then, one day, he meets a young Ashiya, and the first thing he does is cry because the weight of everything he’s lost (and everything he’s yet to gain) hits him all at once.

And THEN BOOM parallels! Just like when Ashiya met Haruaki for the first time and cried, the same thing happens when Seimei meets young Ashiya. It’s a full circle moment of heartbreak and connection.

…Okay, so maybe I’m not just cooking this theory, I’ve burned the whole kitchen down. Im glad im anon, nobody will call me stupid and judge me or anything heh 😼

And this is an idea that's super intriguing to me too! (I love any idea where Seimei is like a fourth-wall-breaking cryptid lmao)

And also the sentence "Seimei is a future Haruaki who went back to the past" is really funny to say and think about

...which would also be a kinda fucked up situation to put Haruaki in: If Seimei is a future Haruaki, what happens after he goes back in time to become Seimei? Is there a Haruaki that exists beyond that point? Isn't he stable time loop doomed? Stuck living this span of time forever?
